A part of my morning routine includes devotions (bible reading and prayer) as well as reading from a small book called God’s Wisdom for Navigating Life: A Year of Daily Devotions in the Book of Proverbs by Timothy Keller. It’s an excellent book that has clear and concise one page devotionals from Proverbs. These are really well written and hit the nail on the head every time. It works really well for children too! The lessons are basic enough for discussion with little ones as well as deep and thought provoking such that a teen or adult will be challenged as well.
Today’s lesson was titled “lover”. It was an excellent one, but I could not keep myself from reading tomorrows lesson because of the title. “Intellectual Partners”. The lesson, as always, was thought provoking. The verses the commentary is on are Proverbs 1:8-9, 4:3, 6:20, and 10:1.
I like the way that Tim Keller describes once aspect of the relationship between spouses, and in particular, spouses raising their children. As colleagues!
They should be intellectually curious together, fellow travelers in learning biblical truth and brainstorming how to align all areas of their lives with its wisdom. They should be joint professors in their children’s intellectual and moral formation.Tim Keller – God’s Wisdom for Navigating Life September 6th 2018
This is something that I think makes a couple strong and unified. Praying together, learning together, being partners in their faith. I love it.
