Ketogenic Diet Kickoff
A friend at work is doing the Keto diet and is having a lot of success. He says 5 weeks in and he is still losing 4-5 pounds a week, which is really great. I tried this diet years ago when I still lived at home and I remember it did work well, I was just not willing to keep it up. As well, one of the Doctors my wife works with lost a lot of weight with the Keto diet and feels amazing. She says he looks amazing and has a new lease on life.
That got me thinking. I have some goals I want to reach personally, not just with weight loss, but with my fitness level as well. And I have a deadline for myself in the not to distant future. Energy and clarity are something every site and book mention when they talk about the benefit of a Keto diet, and that’s what I am really hoping for as well.
My wife and I are doing this together and we start tomorrow. We made our meal plans and did our shopping. I ordered some supplements to help me during the first few weeks as I will still be doing CrossFit 4-5 times a week. I also switched from using the LoseIt! App and RunKeeper to MyFitnessPal and MapMyRun. There is nothing wrong with LoseIt! or RunKeeper. I have the pro versions of both and have used them for a few years. But I like MyFitnessPal better for it’s DB and Interface and I like the metrics from my Apple Watch tie in with UA Record and sync with MapMyRun and MyFitnessPal. I also love the way I can easily track percentages which are important with a Keto Diet. (5-75-20)
