Sprints

As fast as you can! All out, nothing held back! It’s a full out sprint. Legs in full extension, arms swing wide to aide in each stride! Your breathing becomes fully automatic without any thought as your body takes over any control you thought you had. You have no memory of your feet touching the ground as each foot hits the pavement and lifts off. One false step, one little twist with the uneven contour of the road, and you could go careening off to the left or the right plummeting into pain and injury. The road in front of you becomes a blur, not just from the jitter caused by the movement of your eyeballs in their sockets as your feet hit the ground, but from the adrenaline that pumps through your veins and floods your brain. You want that tenth of a second and the only way to get it is to give it everything you have.

My daughter and I ran sprints tonight and it was pretty horrible and awesome. 10 sprints that were 150 meter long with a 3 minute rest in between each, recording the fastest average time. Brutal. My daughter is so amazing. I cannot believe she is 16 and that she can almost run as fast as me! What happened to that little peanut that fit into my hand?
