Today I am thankful for.
I am thankful for the beauty of a storm. The rest and peace that comes over me when there is wind and rain. It reminds me that I am small but loved and significant, that I have no control over anything but I am taken care of, and to rest. As we left for the Bay Area this morning, the wind was strong and howling. The rain was pouring! The smell in the air was clean and had a hint of the mountains. The cold was biting and cut through my clothing right down to my bones, and I love it! The attempt to be warm and stay warm in the cold is one of my most favorite things. There is no snow, so we don’t have to deal with the complications of freezing weather, I imagine my thankfulness might decrease a bit with all the work that freezing weather and snow may produce. I am very thankful for the wind and rain and some day I would like to live in the mountains in a state where wind and rain are expected every winter, and the smell of pine trees and forests are mingled with the cold air.
