It’s been 1 year since I started the body recomposition journey.
It involved 8 months of bulking and 4 months of a “cut”.
I’ve been working out at a professional gym that mostly consists of professional bodybuilders, under the guidance of my trainer, James.
I started at 233 and am currently at 177.
I lost a lot of fat and gained almost 13 pounds of muscle.
For the cut, my diet changed a lot, and I used a GLP-1 to help with food cravings.
Of the entire journey, this was where I grew the most. Not just body recomposition, but also my character and my food behavior forever. GLP-1’s are not a hack if you use them correctly. Along with counseling and training.
The GLP-1 made me sick from day one and made working out extremely difficult. I was dedicated to not losing any muscle during my cut and wanted to continue gaining strength. This was an almost impossible task that I had to dig very deep to accomplish.
You can take a GLP-1 and do nothing else, and lose a ton of weight. That’s the wrong way to do it. That’s temporary.
Day after day, I felt sick and weak. Calorie deficits are no joke, but they work. Day after day, I went to the gym, and I pushed hard. 5-6 days a week, 1 hour of bodybuilding (Hypertrophy and progressive overload) and 1 hour of cardio. I felt dizzy, I felt like throwing up (I did a few times), I felt weak, it was and is very hard. It’s the right way to use a GLP-1. I am now tapering off as I’ll be at my target of 175.
Then, it’s time to head back into bulk. More food, heavier weight, less cardio.
I don’t look the same at all. I have abs now. That 13 pounds of muscle shows, even through my clothing. I plan to put on a lot more in the coming months. I exchanged fat for muscle, and I am so grateful for the process. I love my gym and my community there.
Most of all, I am grateful to have a better relationship with food. Food is fuel.
