The Diary Of A CEO
The Diary Of A CEO is one of the few Podcasts I never miss. I feel like every episode is one that I want to blog about, they are compelling, informational, and entertaining. I really like Steven Bartlett, as a human and as the brilliant guy asking questions across the table from some of the most interesting people. When he interviewed Wes Huff, I was genuinely impressed by the openness of his approach.
Steven interviewed Scott Galloway less than 24 hours ago. It was a good interview. It was not the kind of interview I thought I would blog about given the title and the YouTube thumbnail, but as the interview went on, Scott said several things that I found very impressive. I find it to be very wise.
Scott Galloway
As a parent and as someone who was raised with some soft gloves, I agree 100% with a lot of what he was saying. In looking for a direct quote, I found a few helpful summaries, since the interview is so fresh – I’ll have to follow up here with an update. I want the direct quote. For now, I’ll insert what I did find. It’s close enough. It’s almost midnight and it’s been a long week (Lemon, it’s Monday) and I just don’t have it in me to pause and play and pause until I have the direct quote, and this Pocket device I got, is worthless most of the time for getting transcriptions right.
Scott Galloway advocates that the goal in life and business is to “get no’s” by actively pursuing opportunities, as a high volume of rejection is necessary to secure major “yeses”. He encourages building resilience against rejection to overcome fear, arguing that the ability to tolerate failure is what separates successful individuals from the rest.
Excellent. The stories he was telling around this were brilliant. I like his view on AI, and using AI. Overall, impressive.
I stumbled upon a few more quotes that I want to share.

- “Get good at something, and you will become passionate about it.” Focus on being in the top 10% of your field.
- “Your twenties aren’t for finding passion—they’re for finding what you’re genuinely good at and going all in.”
- “Side hustles are killing your career potential.” Focus on one area to achieve greatness rather than diversifying.
- “The most dangerous place to be isn’t at the bottom. Getting good at the wrong thing is its own trap.”
Wealth & Finance Strategy
- “The algebra of wealth… comes down to this formula: Focus, plus the product of stoicism, time, and diversification.”
- “The single most important economic decision you will ever make is your partner.”
- “It isn’t your salary that makes you rich, it’s your spending habits.”
- “Young people should identify 8 to 10 hours a week spent on their phones and reinvest that time productively.”
Life & Success Philosophy
- “Life isn’t about what happens to you. It’s about how you respond to what happens to you.”
- “Greatness is achieved through the actions and capabilities of others.”
- “Failure and invention are inseparable twins.”
- “Consumers don’t want more choice, but more confidence in the choices presented.“
Galloway frequently advises against taking “passion” advice from wealthy celebrities and instead advocates for building a “hard skill” in a high-demand, even unglamorous, field.
And if that’s not enough, here is 30 more. 🙂
