Part I: The beginning
There is this story I’ve been working on for years. I have a bit written down here and there, and several recordings. I thought some day I might write a book. Maybe a script for a TV show or something like that. The other day, it hit me: what if I made a video game? Some of my favorite games are storytelling games with scores and voice acting that I’ve thought better than movies. But no, I can’t code on that level. I tried to learn C++, and I hated it. It’s the math part of programming I dislike so much. I like PHP, JS, and Python because I have uses for them that I enjoy. Building websites and Apps – I can see what it does, and it makes sense to me.
Well, it turns out there is a path forward that meets my skill set, or at least it will.
I’ve got the skills to play the music. I am pretty good at mixing and producing in Ableton Live. I’ve got art skills, I’ve got the story, and a lot of the script will be easy to come up with. And with Godot and some time learning GDScript and the program itself, I might be able to pull this off.

I tested this out this past week. I cracked open Godot and started working on a 2D project. Building a simple game. Once I got used to it, it made sense. Now I am deep into GDScript, and I have my eyes on 3D.
I like where this is going. It’s fun and work. Learning to code this way will lead me into C++, which will make me better at what I do and give me market value. But mostly it’s fun, and I expect to produce a decent game in the next 2-3 years. I may not, but this is very, very difficult to do, but I am persistent, and I can grind through anything. If my passion is high and my goals are clear, I’ll get there.
