I’ve been looking to get some practical experience with penetration testing, specifically hacking a network IRL, instead of inside a virtual lab. Awhile ago I learned to use “monitor mode” for Packet Injection in an Antisyphon class. I have watched quite a few videos on Youtube on the Flipper Zero and almost grabbed it a few times, but each time it was out of stock. Recently it was in stock, so I finally grabbed one!
In reading about hacking networks with the Flipper Zero, I discovered that I could do a lot with an ESP32 board and Marauder. If you do some searching for Flipper Zero and ESP32, a place to purchase the board, along with some “extras”, makes many appearances in the results. Cyberbros on Tindie. (Perfect companion for your Flipper Zero. With the ESP32 you have WiFi, BT/BLE, micro-SD, camera+PSRAM, CC1101, NRF24, sensors)
As someone who does not work with electronics a whole lot, this store is very appealing. The “hat” arrived ready to go, pretty much plug and play with a little bit of downloading and uploading to get it working.
I have things working, but not fully. I am completely stumped on getting the ESP32-CAM board to flash with the Marauder firmware. It starts but fails. That just means my next Blog post is going to have some cool troubleshoot steps for you, should find yourself in the same boat.
Stay tuned for part 2!
