Section 1.2 is titled “Assessment Methodologies: Footprinting & Scanning” and covers using nmap to discover hosts, ports and services. There are times when tools like ping and arp won’t be helpful and this was demonstrated. This section took me awhile to work through because I had other commitments, including a team meetup out of the country in Nanaimo. It was also very different from the previous course. The instruction is not as good with this instructor. It’s really rough. Where the previous instructor was confident and kep thing moving and was very easy to follow, this one seems to go very, very slow and struggles through examples. It felt like the difference between prepared and someone seeing the material for the first time and teaching on it.
1.3 and many other sections are the same instructor. I may not continue. I want this bad, so I may do it, but it was rather unpleasant. We will see. Things are moving pretty slow here at the beginning, but I think they will pick up soon.
